Next Miami’s @Jocelyn Chew is the Instagram face, model and world traveler you want to follow.
Where are you from?
JOCELYN CHEW: Victoria, Canada. Victoria’s a city in Vancouver Island. I grew up on a farm.
JC: A holiday campaign we did for American Eagle. We shot it in August and needed to have the location look like winter, so we flew to Canada and took a helicopter to the top of glaciers and built an entire set! It was so cool.
What’s the craziest thing you’ve ever done for a shoot?
JC: I’m known to be a daredevil. I’ve stood on the edge of a building that was 50 floors high, surfed, rode a horse bareback galloping down a beach. I’ll try anything. I love a good adrenaline rush.
JC: Victoria’s Secret, CoverGirl, Mario Testino
JC: I can shoot a basketball backward from half court into the net. I have a video on my Instagram!
What are your beauty secrets?
JC: Drink lots of water! I like IPL laser. Exfoliate your face and body at least once a week. Put sunscreen on your face every day.
If you weren’t a model…
JC: When I was younger I wanted to be a veterinarian; I love animals. I’m currently into improv and acting. I could see myself doing more film and TV in the future.
JC: I really enjoy Pilates; I love how it makes me feel and keeps your body toned and lean. When I’m in Miami, I work out at Anatomy at 1220.
JC: Komodo and Milos
Go-to spot to grab a drink?
JC: Soho Beach House
What are your social media tips?
JC: It’s a really exciting way to express yourself and to get your message out there to the world. But it can also be a little overwhelming to have so many people watching you. Lately, I like to take little breaks from it for a week at a time or so. It’s refreshing to stay off the internet and not constantly be posting.
Who is someone in the modeling industry who inspires you?
JC: Naomi Campbell. She’s such an icon, is still working today and is just as beautiful as she was when she started. She’s been a pioneer in the modeling industry, and I love how honest and outspoken she can be.
